I like this post because it took me by surprise. Don't get me wrong---I don't think I could ever have posted a picture of TM in a towel and done anything but gush, but how many times during that first year did you hear me say I was tired (here, here, here, here, here, or here)? Stephanie is inspiring!
Actually, that IS the way I feel about mothering, a lot of the time. In honor of that post, I'm writing ten things I love (most recently) about being a mom:
- Getting my first hug when I pick up TM at preschool.
- Picking her up in the morning and having her snuggle me with her crazy bed head hair.
- Tickling her and hearing her belly laugh.
- Holding her tiny hand while we run together.
- Feeling needed and loved.
- Listening to her say please and thank you.
- Observing her in her happiest moments---when she's going down a slide or being chased by mommy or daddy.
- Hearing her say I look "booful."
- Her baby breath, morning, noon, anytime. It's heavenly.
- The excuse to be a homebody.
Motherhood is good. Stephanie's sister is over at cjanerun. Her latest update had Stephanie in surgery today for more skin grafts. Her husband, Christian, is more stable and has been able to sit with her while she heals ( I believe she is still heavily sedated). Please send good thoughts their way.
